Backyard Summer Fun for Kids

What happens when you have tons of kids home in the summer? You go crazy that’s what. This summer we have 10 kids home with us! Want to know how old they all are? Of course you do, they are 1, 2, 3, 4, 7 yr old (twins), 9, 10, 11, and 12.

Plus-we have a 5 yr old nephew and baby niece that visit from time to time. Making the total count of kiddos to 12!

I’m not going lie, it’s crazy. There are shoes everywhere.

The TV is sometimes on for hours. The kitchen is a hot mess.

But, we love it. Why do we have so many kids you ask? I have 4 sisters and all of us (except the youngest sister) have kids.

Point of the story is – we have tons of kids and we’ll go crazy trying to entertain them this summer.

Getting The Backyard Ready for Summer Fun!

To get the backyard ready for summer fun we added an inflatable pool from Sam’s Club. The inflatable pool was large enough to fit most of the kids and easy to set up. We used this air pump to quickly inflate the pool.

After buying the pool I ran into the Dollar Tree and bought pool toys: noodles, goggles, balls, inflatable tubes, and water guns for them to play with. My total cost with the pool and toys was about $45. I think  that’s a great price to keep tons of kids entertained for summer fun. I also bought 2 tarps, one for under the pool and one to use as a cover.DIY Fun and easy ideas to keep your kids entertained this summer. I think the chalk paint will be a hit with all the kids this year!

As you can imagine, the kids had a blast. To keep the pool clean we are changing the water every few days.

Don’t forget to buy sunscreen. Also-don’t forget to reapply the sunscreen after the recommended time. A few of the kiddos ended up with sunburns 🙁
