I get really hangry if I don’t get some snacks and dinner on time. In order to get dinner on the table I use tons of tricks and take full advantage of using the best kitchen appliances.
It’s not easy being a working mom, a stay at home mom or a work from home mom. I’ve tried them all!
I’m sure you can relate.
Here’s how it goes: you’re busy from whatever your day brings.
It’s 5pm.
You forgot to defrost the meat. Please tell me it’s not just me who does this!!
You don’t have anything prepped.
You settle for a pizza. Or Whataburger. Or Bill Miller’s (or maybe that’s just what I settle for.)
My list of The Best Kitchen Appliances
- Keurig – this little baby keeps me caffeinated. That means I can actually stay awake past 3 pm and cook dinner. Yasss!
- Crock Pot – You can read all about why I love my slow cooker here.
- KitchenAid Mixer – Awesome for making whip cream, kneading dough for breads or pizza and for whipping up cakes.
- Rice Cooker – My rice cooker is from the thrift store. I love it. I can cook jasmine rice, brown rice, any kind of rice and steam veggies at the same time. That’s 2 side dishes done with a tiny bit of effort. Check your thrift store, you’ll see how easy rice cookers are to use.

WOWZA!!!! What an awesome, detailed, eclectic and comprehensive piece Crystal! 🙂 I loved all the pictures, and how you shared to so many other similar stories and roundups – it really completed the ‘story’ you were telling – I have half the essentials you listed, but no rice cooker. I do however, really want to get a mixer. I also want to get a good food processor 🙂 Thanks for this week’s piece at #homemattersparty – love it! xx Bee

Thank you so much Bee! I have a food processor which is so nice for making homemade peanut butter. Hope you get a mixer–there’s so much you can do with it!
Great post, Crystal. I have a rice cooker but thought it can cook so many recipes other than rice. I have to get creative there. #HomeMattersParty

Great list! I really love my rice cooker too and sometimes I think I won’t survive without it LOL I really have to get myself a slow cooker. I always make a mental note to do so every time I read about them in blogs but somehow, I never got around to it LOL
I hope you find a slow cooker soon, they are great!
I can’t live without my rice cooker! lol,
great list Crystal keep it up!
It’s interesting to know that your rice cooker came from a thrift store. It gave me the idea that products from scratch and dent stores aren’t that bad for home use after all. Since I’m looking for a cheap microwave, now is probably the perfect time to try it out myself.
