Who is ready for this holiday season? Not me! Don’t get me wrong, I love the holidays. I just don’t love the extra stress this time of year. Today I’m sharing my go-to self-care tips which hopefully will help me (and you) avoid a holiday meltdown this year.

5 Self-care Tips to Help you Avoid a Holiday Meltdown

Self-care is all about taking care of your emotional, mental, and physical health. I like to keep my self-care ideas simple throughout the holiday season because it’s what’s easiest for me. Some days I have hours to spend on self-care but most days (especially during the holidays) I only have 15-20 minutes.

Let’s get to the self-care ideas that don’t take up a ton of time and are easy to do.

Declutter for 15 Minutes

A messy home can cause stress and make you feel overwhelmed. With the holidays fast approaching it can be so easy to accumulate clutter around the house. You might have a huge stash of wrapping paper, fall and Christmas decorations, tubs of winter clothing plus all the normal clutter like mail, dishes, and messy countertops. Wow! That stresses me out just thinking about it!

You might be thinking, Crystal, decluttering is NOT self-care.

Let me tell you why decluttering is self-care: you’re taking the time to remove and reduce something (clutter) which is causing you unnecessary stress and anxiety.

Clearing out the clutter makes it easier to keep your space clean, you’ll have a beautiful space, less cleaning, and more time to do what things you love.

The quickest way to get started is setting a timer for 15 minutes and focusing on one room, one area at a time to declutter.

That’s it! And chances are you’ll want to keep on cleaning up even after your timer goes off.

Unplug From Social Media

Disconnecting from social media and emails can help increase your focus and help your creativity. I think we can all use creativity and focus in our lives.

Set aside a few hours each week (or maybe only when you’re feeling stressed) to be completely off of your phone.

Keep things like books, coloring books, puzzle books, or any project supplies nearby. If you get the urge to start scrolling do an activity instead.

Walk the Walk

Sometimes taking a break and getting out in nature is all the self-care you need. Walk around a lake or park. Or just grab your dog and walk around the neighborhood a few times.

Hot Drink + Good Book

Reading a funny book like Confessions of a Shopaholic and sipping on hot tea or coffee is a great way to destress.

Relax in the Shower

Showers and baths are my favorite self-care activities. I’m pretty sure I’ve perfected a simple and relaxing shower self-care routine.

  • Ask Alexa to play relaxing music
  • Dim the lights
  • Grab an exfoliating loofah and my favorite body wash
  • Grab a comfy robe

That’s it – simple and relaxing and doesn’t take too much time out of my day.

A friend recommended Softsoap® Body Wash to me earlier this year and I’m so glad she did. My new favorite is the Softsoap Body Wash Coconut Butter Scrub . It’s made with real coconut seed butter and I love how soft and smooth my skin feels after using this exfoliating body wash.

All Softsoap Body Wash products are formulated without parabens and phthalates.

You can click the picture below and add these Softsoap Body Wash varieties directly to your Walmart Online Grocery cart now.

I also picked up Softsoap Body Wash Blackberry Sugar and Softsoap Body Wash Luminous Oils Coconut & Lavender.

If you want an at-home spa experience I recommend going with the Softsoap Body Wash Blackberry Sugar. This body wash is exfoliating, has real blackberry juice and sugar, and a very luxurious fragrance.

The Softsoap Body Wash Luminous Oils Coconut & Lavender leaves your skin feeling soft and looking radiant. The body wash is made with coconut oil, smells great and is pH balanced for your skin.

After the luxurious feeling shower slip into a comfy robe and you’ll be feeling and smelling amazing.

I hope you enjoyed these simple self-care tips. Enjoy the holidays and please be sure to make time for self-care as much as possible!

You can grab all the Softsoap Body Wash products at Walmart by going in-store or shopping online.

Ibotta ALERT! You can earn .75 cents cash back on any size SoftSoap® Body Wash.
