EASY GUACAMOLE TOPPING FOR BURGERS AND HOTDOGS

This post is sponsored by Jennie-O but the content and opinions expressed here are my own.

I’m all for healthy eating. In my family, I’m known for trying new recipes and using new foods. But sometimes I just need SIMPLE. I love quick and easy ideas that can get dinner on the table within an hour – preferably less.

This easy guacamole topping is perfect for the nights I need simple! I use it as a topping for burgers (instead of mayo and ketchup) or a topping for hotdogs – don’t knock it ’till you try it!

Now let me say this….my Dad makes the best guacamole. THE BEST. His method and ingredient list is a lot longer and a little different than mine. And that’s okay, because I can still enjoy his guac at family cookouts. And I’ll enjoy mine on quick – grilling nights.

It almost feels like endless summer over here. For one, because summer weather in south Texas starts in like May, if not earlier.

And two – the kids (and sometimes me) are in the pool for HOURS.

By the end of they day, we’re hungry and not willing to wait so long for dinner!

EASY GUACAMOLE TOPPING

  • 2 lemons
  • 4 avocados
  • 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
  • 1/4 red onion, chopped
  • salt *to taste
  • garlic *to taste

Mix it all up in a bowl and that’s it! What I love about cooking at home is being able to use up ingredients I already have. See, my dad uses limes for his guacamole, I didn’t have any. So the lemons worked in a pinch. 😉

If you have tomatoes you can add tomatoes. Hate tomatoes? Leave ’em out!

I like having a protein-heavy option that my whole family will love too.

If you’re carb-conscious you’ll want to skip the bun. But adding the easy guacamole topping and a side of veggies will keep you full!

That’s what I had below – low carb and delicious.

I also tried the JENNIE-O® Uncured Turkey Breast Franks – I totally used a bun for it too! ‘Cause I can’t have a hotdog without a bun – can you?

If you’re looking into healthier grilling options or just leaning towards a healthier lifestyle, you’ll want to look into Jennie-O products.

When I started a healthier eating lifestyle I was nervous about how my kids would react to the change. Honestly – we have issues with 1 kid who has always been a picky eater. The rest of them are so hungry from swimming all day, they eat and they don’t complain!

Can I just say how much I love foods that don’t require a lot of prep work or plates! Seriously, they grabbed the franks and burgers and ate together on the back patio. Easy night for me with cooking and clean up. Can’t beat that! 🙂

I hope you are inspired to have fun with burger and franks fixings this summer. Use what you have, recipes aren’t meant to be followed religiously!

I used two lemons from our tree, and four avocados from the store, along with granulated garlic and the other ingredients. It was pretty quick to make, and my wife and kids really enjoyed it! We used it on hamburgers tonight. It’s a great little recipe to remember for the future.
