MY HONEST REVIEW OF IMPERFECT PRODUCE

I decided to try Imperfect Produce for two reasons: 1. We’re eating a more plant based diet and I love any kind of grocery delivery service and 2. I’m a sucker for ads on Instagram. Their ad totally got me! Here’s my honest review of Imperfect Produce.

WHAT IS IMPERFECT PRODUCE?

Imperfect Produce is a service that delivers “ugly” veggies straight to your door. This is because 20% of produce in the U.S. doesn’t leave the farms, it’s wasted because it’s ugly! Crazy, right? Imperfect Produce teams up with the farmers, buys the ugly stuff and we get the savings! Plus, I feel good helping keep perfectly good food (maybe a bit wonky) out of the trash!

You can customize your box and choose between conventional (not organic) and organic produce.

This is my favorite part, each week I get an email saying it’s time to customize. I buy the Large Mixed Produce Box. I customize by choosing the fruits and veggies I know we will use.

I also like that I can afford to choose organic options that don’t break my grocery budget!

My last 3 orders:

I couldn’t fit the entire order into the screenshot, my total for this week was $31.39

You can see the price is very reasonable, especially for organic produce. And besides a funky looking carrot in one of our boxes, all the rest of the produce has been perfect!

Last week I made an Ethiopian Cabbage Dish with the cabbage, carrots and potatoes we bought. It turned out so good!

I also have to brag about the Spaghetti Squash check out the price….only $1.25! I wish I would have realized this and stocked up. I buy these at my local grocery store for around $3-4 bucks each!

SHOULD YOU TRY IMPERFECT PRODUCE?

There are tons of great reasons to try Imperfect Produce.

  • If you’re eating more veggies and fruit and you want an easy shopping experience. These get delivered and it doesn’t get easier than that.
  • If you’re on a budget (like me) and you want to be able to afford organic produce.
  • If you want to STOP food waste!
  • If your local grocery store doesn’t have great produce. **I’m not gonna say which grocery store but there is one near me that I REFUSE to buy any fruits or veggies from. I don’t know why or how but their produce is always nasty!

HOW DOES IMPERFECT PRODUCE WORK?

It’s really simple. You sign up on their website.  – That’s my referral link and you’ll get $10 bucks to shop and create your perfect box!

Choose the size of your weekly produce box. Like I said, we order the large box and we’re a family of 5 (two of us are eating only plant based foods), it definitely works for us.

You’ll be given a delivery day, ours is always on Wednesday between 2 -10pm. And you’ll be given the chance to customize your box each week, with a reminder in your email.

I have my account set up and linked to the debit card I use for grocery shopping. Each weekend, before I grocery shop I customize my box and make sure I don’t buy double at the grocery store.

On Wednesday I wait for my happy box of perfectly imperfect food to arrive and that’s it!

This service is a time saver for me, I love all of the food we purchase and we use it up and I am happy to help end food waste! Plus, it’s affordable and so very convenient.

You can find out more about Imperfect Produce by heading over to their site.
