San Antonio Living: The Pig Stand

I’ve been living in San Antonio since 2009. My husband and I went to eat at The Pig Stand last month and all I can think about are the years we missed out on eating there!

The Pig Stand is a (non-corporate) nostalgic diner. It’s got that retro look with red booths and checkered floor, jukebox at every table playing music from the 50’s.

The food is the best! Please don’t be on a diet when you go out to eat here because you will wreck it. The Pig Stand

Signature Food

The Pig Stand is known for it’s Pig Sandwich, BBQ pork on a bun with special sauce and relish. They’ve been serving this for 92 years!

I had a Black Cow when I was there: frosted mug of root beer float with whipped cream on top and an Old Fashioned Patty Melt (toasted Rye packed with 1/2 lb beef patty smothered in grilled onions and cheese) both were absolutely delicious!

You can check out the entire menu here and you’ll see how budget friendly they are!

Yum! ???❤???? When nothing is going right, go left.

Atmosphere & Decor

I appreciated the old fashioned diner look. We sat in a booth, skimmed through the jukebox music and had fun looking at the pig decor. It’s everywhere! I couldn’t help but be reminded of a childhood best friend who loved pigs and had one as a pet. (Until her mom and I lost it, but that’s neither here nor there.)

This is a fun place to have a date night at, or take the kids out to dinner. Trust me, they will love the old fashioned malts and milkshakes!

The staff is friendly and we didn’t wait long for our food. Which is great because I was already at the HANGRY point when I got there.

My husband and I will definitely be back with and without the children. We try to meet once a week for coffee and breakfast and I think we’ll be trying out The Pig Stand’s breakfast menu since we loved the lunch we had there.
