SIMPLE HOMEMADE PLAYDOUGH WITH ESSENTIAL OILS

I’m always on the lookout for kid friendly activities to keep my youngest daughter (she’s 5) occupied. Most days I want something non-electronic, I want her using her imagination! When I found Simply Earth’s recipe for playdough infused with essential oils I knew I could whip up a batch quickly since I had all of the ingredients. Here’s how to make a simple, homemade playdough with essential oils.

Grab your simple ingredients: flour, water, salt, vegetable oil and cream of tartar and food coloring. 

Mix together and knead the dough. 

After the dough was formed I added the essential oil (we chose orange) along with some almond oil since it’s a 100% pure carrier oil. 

Knead the dough again to spread your essential oil around. 

Next, I split the dough into four parts and added food coloring. 

Beware, this is a messy step. My hands were stained after adding color but it didn’t last too long. 

We split our dough into 4 pieces and made green, pink, yellow and purple. 

Then I split each color into 2 parts (since we had my niece over) and each girl had her own set of playdough to create with! 

Silly me though, there was no point in making different colors – all they did was mix all the colors up! 😉 

Refrigerate your playdough after play time for best results. I store ours in a tupperware container. 

I loved how easy this homemade playdough with essential oils was to create. The playdough is colorful, fun to play with and smells great!
