SIMPLE WAYS TO GET YOUR HOME HOLIDAY READY

This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.com.

There’s no doubt about, the holiday season is right around the corner. We’ve got a huge family and when we get together there are over 10 kids ages 1 to 15 running around and about 12 adults. Talk about a busy house!

I’m always on the lookout for simple ways to get my home ready for the holidays and most importantly guest ready. I want my family and friends to feel welcome in my clean(ish) and very full home. 😉

Today I’m sharing the tips we use when getting ready to host our large family during the holidays.

SIMPLE WAYS TO GET YOUR HOME HOLIDAY READY

  • We don’t usually use paper plates or plasticware. But, when we’re hosting and I know there will be double our family size (or more) we buy paper products. I feel it’s better to be prepared instead of not having enough dishes to go around.
  • Do a quick declutter – grab a bin and walk around your home adding items that don’t belong out. Throw the bin in your garage or closet and remember to go through those items at a later time. (More on decluttering here.
  • Wash the sheets and blankets your guests will be sleeping in. If you don’t have extra (and if it’s possible) ask your guests to bring their blankets. My sister lives 3 hours away and has 5 boys, we don’t have enough extra blankets and pillows to go around so she always brings her own.
  • Take some time to make sure your bathroom is clean. Leave out extra towels and you may want to stock up on extra toothbrushes just in case.

Alright, so those tips were my basic tips. Things I always do before hosting family. Now for some extra goods that will enhance the look and feel of your home this holiday season!

Simplify your cleaning routine with a robotic vacuum.

The ECOVACS DEEBOT 900 is perfect for this busy holiday season and your busy lifestyle in general. With the DEEBOT 900 you can schedule routine cleanings (yes, there’s an app for that!) or start the robot with just a click of a button.

Check out my kids relaxing and letting the robot do all the work!

This robotic vacuum is definitely near and dear to my heart since it’s minimizing the time I’m cleaning AND it’s playing to my love language of Acts of Service! 😉  Plus, The ECOVACS DEEBOT 900 syncs up with my Alexa, making this the best robotic vacuum of all time and I’m pretty sure the easiest to use!

You can find the EVOVACS DEEBOT 900 online at multiple retailers, on their site: ECOVACS.com or at your local Target.

Heads up for a Cyber Monday deal, the DEEBOT 900 will be $100 off at participating retailers, click here to find out where you can purchase one!

Spruce up the scents in your home.

The Heritage Collection by Chesapeake Bay Candle are scented candles designed and poured in Maryland.

The Chestnut & Acorn scent includes cinnamon leaf essential oils and has a soy wax blend which delivers a clean burn. This candles smells like fall in a jar with scents of roasted chestnuts, brown sugared pecans and cinnamon.

I love how candles can set a mood and uplift the ambience of a home. I like to light a few candles before having company over and I received many compliments about the Chestnut & Acorn scent. A few of my sisters even asked if they could have it!

Set the bed with luxury bedding!

With Brooklinen you can snag premium, comfortable, and luxurious sheets without having to step foot inside a store.

The Luxe Hardcore Sheet Bundle includes: 1 core sheet set, 1 duvet cover and 2 extra pillow cases. You can even mix-and-match with one color for the sheets and another color for the duvet.

Great for those of us who like tons of freedom when styling our bedrooms!

The 100% long-staple cotton sheets feel buttery smooth (seriously!) and have a rich 480 thread count weave. I definitely feel like these sheets are the most luxurious and comfortable sheets I’ve ever owned or slept on!

Similar sheet sets can cost close to $895, you can grab a discount on your Brooklinen sheets set (and be way, way below the $895 price point) by using my link here.

Add a pop of color & holiday music.

We’re using the Sengled Element Color Plus 2pk kit and the Solo Color Plus smart light bulbs to add a bit of holiday cheer to our home this year.

These color LED bulbs can be fully customized via an app on your phone. You can even use the Solo Color Plus as an alternative speaker for your Echo dot!

The Element line is also compatible with Google Home, SmartThings and more, making it very easy to control your home by voice.

I change the colors to pink on all three light bulbs, connect via Bluetooth to the Solo Color Plus and play all my favorite music! I can even make it so the light changes with the beat.

Using this type of wireless lighting will be a new and fun way for us to listen to our favorite holiday music this year!

Line your pantry with shelf liners.

This time of year means more baking, more ingredients in our pantries and the possibility for more mess!

Save yourself time now by lining your pantry with Smooth Top® Easy Liner® Shelf Liner. These liners are non-adhesive with a non-slip grip bottom. The smooth surface makes it easy to clean.

I also use these liners in medicine cabinets, bathroom drawers and in the kitchen drawers.

Did you know the shelf liners are also machine washable and are easy to cut, install and replace with no hassle!

Order your shelf liner and grab some organization tips while you’re at it.

Add some Christmas charm to your tabletop or mantle.

This 25″ Iced Mini Pine Artificial Christmas Tree in Galvanized Bucket by Northlight from Christmas Central is such a fun way to add some rustic farmhouse charm to your home.

The mini pine Christmas tree had realistic PE branches that look as if they are dusted with snow, creating a winter/iced look!

My favorite part is the galvanized pot since this mini tree will match our bigger Christmas tree this year.

You can find this frosted mini green Christmas tree and much more to decorate for the Holiday season over at Christmas Central.

Oh wow I would love that vacuum. We have a really old one that we got from my brother in law

  2. We don’t do any large gatherings at my house, but I do a few of these things before we have people over. We always run out of pillows and blankets, too, and have to borrow from my mother-in-law when my sister and her boys come to visit!

  3. Jennifer says:

I love robotic vaccuums. They are such a must. It can be hard to get my home holiday ready because my toddler unreadys it so much faster than I get it ready. Love these tips though!

I love the robot vacuum! I really want one of those this year. May have to order on cyber monday using your code of course.

  5. I totally need a robot vacuum! That’s fantastic that it syncs up with your Alexa. Also luxury bedding is seriously the best!

    1. Oh, yes. I also bought a robotic vacuum cleaner and my life has become so much easier! Of course, if you don’t have pets or kids at home maybe you don’t need this tool as you probably don’t have as much dust and dirt at your house but still – a robot vacuum is great. You just come home and everything is clean already so you don’t have to worry about that.

  7. Haha love this, to begin always a refresh clean. Also, lots of candles and also many fresh baked goods for guests always works wonders xx

  8. Fortunately for me, all our family’s large gatherings happen at my brother’s home so, no work for me. I am looking at getting some of those Brooklinen sheets though! I haven’t bought new sheets in way too long.

  9. You can machine-wash shelf liners? No way! We always remake the guest bed with clean sheets after each guest so that’s ready to go, but we have to do a good cleaning of the guest bath because the rest of the time it’s our laundry room!

  10. This is a great list! It seems like it takes forever to prepare for holiday gatherings.

  11. Aww, this is what I wanna try unfortunately our family is not that big! So it’s not that hassle for me to prep and clean after.

  12. Hi Crystal, love the idea of spreading the scent to home that definitely changes the mood. Before today, I just did the vacuum to start my holiday period but it’s always nice to be better prepared. I will definitely try out the ideas you put in here. Amazing!
