A few days ago I was at Walmart and I spotted the Simply Straight Hair Brush, the box promised “Perfectly Straight Hair Fast & Easy!” You know me, I love easy, and bonus if it’s quick to use. I really didn’t like the price of $39.99 but, I figured it would be worth it if it worked.
I have curly/frizzy hair. I usually wear it curly because 1. it’s easy and 2. it’s fast! LOL. But, a few times a month one of my awesome sisters will straighten my hair with a flat iron, and I love it! I hate to be a pain so I figured I could do my own hair with this Simply Straight Ceramic Hair Straightening Brush, Black/Pink
Simply Straight Hair Brush– the process
This is what I started with –dry, curly hair. Before it air-dried I added a small amount of anti-frizz cream. Then, I started straightening a small section in the front. The brush itself is easy to use. Just brush at a slower pace starting from the top of your head and go down.
It did do a pretty good job of straightening a small section. I kept going. I divided my hair into 2 sections and went through with small sections. Then I got tired and did more hair at once. I could tell the difference. Smaller sections meant the hair was getting straighter, faster. Using larger sections of hair, I had to go over several times with the brush. Eventually I finished!
Here is the right side of my hair still curly and the left side straightened by the brush. You can see a huge difference!
The Good, The Bad, The Ugly!
The Good: For the most part the brush worked. My hair looked straight, and it really was just as easy as brushing through.
The Bad: I thought I would get a much better result with my straightening iron. After using the brush my hair was not sleek like it usually is after using a flat iron. It reminds me of when I first started straightening my hair as a teen and didn’t really know what I was doing.
The Ugly: There is no way the Simply Straight Hair Brush would keep my hair from staying straight and frizz free in this Texas heat and humidity. I think I am better off using my flat iron! I took this back to Walmart and got my $39.99 back!
I think this is a good product for those that don’t have such curly, frizzy prone hair. If you have hair that just needs to be smoothed down this may work for you. I was really surprised that it got my hair as straight as it did. I took this back because I know I won’t use it and didn’t want to waste my money.
If you want to try it check it out on Amazon, they have tons of good reviews, pictures and videos. You may have hair it works with. Or check out your nearest Walmart.

i just like straight hair, it is easy to handle and care.
Definitely better suited for those with finer hair – for those with thicker (and more unpredictable!) hair then flat irons are the answer for sure. I think the straightening brushes are good for a quick tidy up but not for long lasting straight locks.
My daughter recently bought this and likes it pretty well. She says it’s not as good as a flat iron but still does a pretty good job. Her hair is thick and course.
That’s great! I know it will work for some people. I wish it would have worked for me!
Thanks for the review! I’ll go for flat iron coz I have thick hair. This product could have been cool if it’s not as expensive though.
Does straighten hair. Mine is very thick, curly and long, brush does straighten BUT… does not leave hair soft, silky and shining. Ends look kinda fried, if in a hurry this will do the trick however hair looks better with regular hair straightener, that leaves hair shining as well as soft, just looks more healthy than this brush leaves it.also a lot more time consuming this brush is very quick which is a plus.
It’s a fair point to make that straightening brushes do not work as well as straighteners, particularly if you have very curly roots. They are nice for touch ups though, and for smoothing rather than creating pin straight hair. Still, in the busy mornings, I find it’s easier to brush through hair, plus I don’t mind the extra volume 🙂

Very true. I have really curly hair.
Hi I am currently using Karmin’s hairbrush. It is excellent, it leaves my hair soft, silky, shiny and without friz, for me it is the best. I recommend it.
