The Easiest Valentine’s Day Wreath DIY

How have you been doing on your New Year goals? Did you fall of the wagon? I’m not judging. Not at all, especially after rounding up the Valentine’s Day Treats post, I’m sure I’ll be falling off the healthy eating wagon soon.

Doesn’t that look delicious? I grabbed a whole bunch of baking supplies and my step-daughter and I plan on baking up tons of treats. Can’t wait to share with you!

Anyway, now that I’ve probably thrown you into bad eating temptation with that cookie picture, let’s reel it in and get back on track.

I made a simple and very pretty DIY Valentine’s Day Wreath with supplies I picked up at walmart. This probably took one hour start to finish because I kept getting interrupted by my lovely 3 year old. Side note: Do not leave open paint around kids, just don’t do it!

Supplies:

  • 14″ Foam wreath
  • Red Heart Boutique Fur Yarn ** I bought 2 but only used 1
  • Glue gun
  • Wooden word, I used the word LOVE
  • Acrylic paint (in whichever color you want your wooden word to be)
  • Gorilla glue or super glue

Step 1: Paint the word

I chose to paint my word, LOVE, with red paint. I buy acrylic paint (it’s like .50 cents at Walmart) and keep a variety of colors on hand. I did 2 coats, let it dry and then did the other side. I’m super impatient and got paint all over the paper, make sure you let it dry! Valentine's Day Wreath DIY

Step 2: Cut your yarn into strips and begin hot gluing it onto your foam

I cut the yarn into 12 inch strips, put the hot glue on the foam and then started wrapping the yarn around. It’s super easy once you get the hang of it. Keep gluing and wrapping until you cover the entire foam wreath. Valentine's Day Wreath DIY

Step 3: Once your word is dry attach it to your wreath.

I tried using the hot glue gun to attach the word but it didn’t adhere well. I ended up using some gorilla glue I had lying around and that worked best. I’m sure you could make do with the glue gun though if that’s all you have, just press it down well and maybe put a book over it while it dries up.

That’s it, you’re done!

You can lean this wreath on your mantle or dresser and add some more Valentine’s Day decor. This is the 2nd wreath I’ve made. I was trying to figure out how to hang it up. I ended up crocheting a piece of fabric, attaching that with thumbtacks which probably won’t stay on long and hanging on the command strip I put on my front door.

I’m happy with it for now, but I’m on the look out for the best way to hang this wreath. If you find out, let me know! Valentine's Day Wreath DIY. A super simple craft you can finish in one hour plus you can find all the supplies at Walmart or any hobby store. I love how fluffy and pretty this DIY wreath turned out! Perfect for craft night.
