Turtle Beach Recon 70 Gaming Headset Review

Want to know one of the most annoying parts of motherhood and something I was unprepared for: the sound of video games. I have three kids who love playing video games right now and I’m trying to understand why they need the TV up so loud?! Why?

I just don’t get. One minute I’m in a quiet kitchen, anxiously scrolling down for a recipe before my phone dies and the next minute the TV is turned up so loud I can’t even think.

Then, my phone dies. I have no idea what I’m supposed to do with the ingredients in front of me and on top of that no one can hear me yelling for a charger.

I’m competing with booming noises from the game (do your kids play with the TV so loud too?) and the kids’ gaming chatter. Add to that a barking dog and a 5 year old “helping” me in the kitchen and you’ll understand why I jumped at the chance for my kids to review a gaming headset!

Turtle Beach Recon 70 Gaming Headset

The headset elevates your gaming to new levels and across multiple devices: Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, PC and even mobile devices. How cool is that?

The Recon 70 is designed to be a comfortable and lightweight headset, perfect for binge sessions of game play. See the over-ear cushions? They block out the outside noises and let you hear everything going on in your game.

More to note: you’ll always be clearly heard using the high-sensitivity mic and you can flip the mic up to mute. Plus, the 3.5 mm connection makes it easy for the kids to connect to the Xbox One remote, another game console or their phones.

Recon 70 Gaming Headset Dom’s Review

Meet Dom…he’s 13, hates cleaning, loves gaming, loves his dog and practically lives in his bedroom. #teenagers

Here’s what he said about the headset:

  • The gaming audio is loud coming through the headset.
  • It sounds like it’s noise-cancelling.
  • You can mute the mic by pointing it up towards your head. He loves this feature!

I’d ask him for more details but he’s in his room gaming and I have a rare, quiet moment to myself…can’t mess that up!

My review? I love them because at least now I am not stuck hearing the game session of one of the kids. We will definitely be buying one additional headset for the house.

  1. I feel like I am constantly asking my boys to turn the tv down, too! I love the idea of headphones for them, but unfortunately, they play the WiiU which isn’t compatible with something like this. They do both have a pair of kids headphones for when they are having some down time on their kindle fires, though!

  2. Oh this is awesome! I’ve never heard of it before now! I will get it for my nephew. Thank you so much.

This is a subject I know very little about. I know headsets are important in gaming though.

  10. This looks like quite the gaming headset. And I would prefer something like this because I prefer my headsets to be noise canceling. I want to immerse myself in my environment. I will have to check these out.
