I really love living in San Antonio. We have such a diverse and beautiful city. One of my favorite parts of San Antonio is our Riverwalk. If you’ve ever visited the Riverwalk then you know. If you haven’t, you need to get your butt down here!
There are so many awesome places to visit when in San Antonio. When we have family from out of town we usually take them to the Alamo and then head down to the Riverwalk.
You can see our date night at Casa Rio by clicking here.
On July 4th we were lucky enough to have family over from Chicago. I got to meet my cousin’s wife and daughters (so beautiful) and we spent a few hours downtown.
If you plan to visit the Alamo park over at the River Center Mall Parking Garage . We like parking there because it’s so close to the Alamo and it feels like a safe place to park.
And first…The Alamo. So you know- you’re not allowed to take pictures inside of the Alamo. The outside is beautiful and so are the grounds behind the Alamo. My favorite thing is looking at the koi fish. I want some!
Almost directly across from the Alamo you’ll see stairs leading down to the Riverwalk. That’s the quickest way to get down there. You’ll see this waterfall–perfect for pictures!
Next you’ll see part of an entrance to a San Antonio Riverwalk fancy hotel! We stopped to enjoy the cooler air.
We stopped to eat at Rita’s on the River. This is my FAVORITE place to eat! Rita’s has the best margaritas and food. If you have to wait for a seat, do it. It’s worth it. Head to the back of the restaurant. They have fans, lots of seating and plenty of photo ops! See the girls-they had so much fun taking pics! My little 3 year old had fun on the mini-stage. The best memory for me was watching her show off and dance in front of all her cousins.
My camera has this awesome selfie feature. The screen flips up and we can see ourselves. Makes taking selfies with a bigger camera so much easier! That’s my cousin Andy and me! I love how this picture turned out.
My uncle had the mariachis play for us at the table. If you read about the last time we were at the Riverwalk you’ll see we didn’t get mariachis, so this was awesome! Except for my rude daughter–look what she did….She covered her ears and told them in her loudest voice–“Be QUIET!” Hahah. I just love her.
I had a great time with my family when I needed it the most. Then know what? My cousin posted pictures on Facebook (come say Hi) and tagged me, he wrote something like “cousins that are more like siblings to me.” I loved that.

We visited San Antonio once when my now 20 something kids were little. We LOVED it and have always wanted to return. The Riverwalk is amazing. My husband was especially excited to visit the Alamo, (which was also amazing), but it was August and hot, so we were wishing we had gone to the Alamo in the morning! Hoping to get back again some time!
