Let’s skip the fluff and go straight to the actionable tips that can help you be more positive today.

Quick Tip 1: Gratitude is the antidote to worry
A lot of times worry is what prevents us from having a positive outlook on life. We worry and worry and that drags down our hopefulness.
Next time you find yourself worrying remember this instead: Gratitude is the antidote to worry. So grab a pen and paper or start a new note on your phone and start writing out a rampage of appreciation. Write down things you are grateful for, the big things and the little things. As you write let yourself feel the emotion of why you’re grateful. Feeling the emotions and bringing gratitude into your day can change your attitude.
Quick Tip 2: Get outside
Studies have proven that spending time in nature can help reduce stress and improve your mood. [ Resource: Harvard Health Publishing]
Not being able to see my extended family during this Covid-19 crisis or even being free to jet around town has gotten me a little down. Is it just me or do the days seem to blend together after a while? Anyway, getting outside every day is more important to me now than it ever has been. Even if it’s just sitting on the back patio with my dogs or actually taking a family walk each evening.
My mood improves so much after being outside. The days I don’t make it outside I can tell I’m a bit more stressed versus the days we do our family walks.
Quick Tip 3: Take a break from news and social media
If you’re constantly filling up your brain space with news that makes you worry or Facebook posts that make you cringe – how do you think you’re gonna feel? Worried. Sad. Depressed. Yep – all of those.
Make it a point to stay off the news and social media a few times a week. I know it feels like we need to be glued to our phones but nothing bad will happen if you take a break.
You can even go one step further and start unfollowing, muting or blocking accounts on social media that don’t make you feel good. I’ve taken multiple days off from news and have cleared quite a few people from my friends list. Remember there’s no rule saying we have to listen to bad news all day, every day. Take a break!
There you go! 3 quick tips to help you bring in more positivity into your life.
