Are You Ready For Spring Cleaning?

This post has been sponsored by Art of Green. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Spring is just about here and that means it’s time for spring cleaning. Are you ready for spring cleaning?

This post includes:

  • what I have to spring clean in my house
  • how to switch to green cleaning products
  • list of how to spring clean fast

Let’s dive in.

How to spring clean quickly

You may dread spring cleaning but you know it needs to be done. The best way to do it is to start! Set aside a weekend and make a list of everything that needs to be cleaned. You can use this list to split up chores between yourself, your spouse and even assign your kids age appropriate chores.

Start with dusting and at the top of your house to the bottom. So if you have a 2 story home start dusting upstairs – ceiling fans first and work you way downstairs.

If you’ve got a one story you can start dusting in any room really. But, I like to start in the room furthest away from our kitchen, that way I work myself towards the main room of the house.

What to clean:

  • Dust all rooms in the house including ceiling fans
  • Vacuum or sweep all rooms – move furniture and sweep or vacuum under there too!
  • Spot clean walls, baseboards and cabinets
  • Wash doors and door knobs – don’t forget the front and back doors of your house
  • Wash the inside and outside of windows
  • Clean your light fixtures
  • Empty and clean the fridge
  • Empty and clean the pantry
  • Wipe down and clean the inside of your washer and dryer
  • Sweep and hose down your front entrance/porch and back patio

I like to set aside 1 hamper for decluttering. I set everything we’ve grown out of or no longer need or want into this hamper and donate the items. You can set the hamper in a hallway or carry it room to room.

If you notice on the list above I didn’t include the toilets, sinks or tubs in this list. We usually keep our bathrooms pretty clean so during spring cleaning we don’t have much to do in there. Add bathrooms to your list if you have some major cleaning to do in there.

Using green cleaning products for spring cleaning

I switched to green cleaning products last year and never looked back. It’s so important for me to use eco friendly products in my home.

Should you switch to green cleaning products?

You might be ready to make the switch to green cleaning products if:

  • you wonder about the amount of toxic chemicals in your current cleaning products
  • you don’t want your kids coming in contact with a ton of chemicals
  • you have pets in your home
  • you hate cleaning because you hate breathing in the chemical fumes
  • you want to use green cleaning products but you don’t want to make them yourself

Personally, I use (and love) Art of Green® products.

Art of Green ingredients are at least 98% naturally derived with no harsh chemicals, and have a non-toxic formula free of parabens, phthalates, glycol solvents, artificial color or phosphates.

These green cleaning sprays, wipes and pourables are:

  • safe to use around kids and pets
  • 98% naturally derived cleaner
  • free from parabens, phthalates, glycol solvents and artificial color or phosphates
  • made with essential oils
  • no harsh chemical
  • tough on dirt, grease and grime
  • safe for sensitive skin
  • non-toxic
  • easy to refill

Our attitude to spring cleaning

Not gonna lie, we don’t LOVE cleaning. But you know what makes it better? Using products that are safe around my children and pets and are better for the environment!

Plus – once the spring cleaning is done we get to leave on spring break vacation and come home to a clean house!

That way I can actually relax during spring break and not worry about all the cleaning or decluttering I’d have to come home to.
