Here in San Antonio the first day of school starts on August 22nd. I am definitely in “back to school” mode! Not only am I planning the shopping for clothes and supplies. But, I am trying to get my house ready for back to school too.
This school year will start us off with 2 extra kids. My sister and her husband are deploying so their two boys will be living with us for the school year.
I have simple tips that I use with my kids every year like:
- Starting a bed time routine 2 weeks before school starts back up
- Meal planning for hectic week nights
- Planning out outfits for 1 week (socks and undies included)
- Getting book bags and shoes ready by the front door the night before
- Quick breakfast snacks
- Using ebates for my back to school online shopping
- Price matching for school supplies (I save tons every year!)
Here are a few ideas, meals and fun I found on Pinterest. Hope you enjoy!
I love this idea! Using a caddy and mason jars to create a portable homework caddy. Now I only have to figure out how to keep it away from the 3 yr old!
Create a homework station. In theory it sounds wonderful–an area where the boys will sit, do their homework, not whine and not take hours to get 1 math page done.
Don’t you just love this family command center?
Fun and easy lunch ideas.
Do you have a tried and true back to school tip?
Do you get the Resource Page?
Each week I'll send you the latest Resource Page. In it, you'll find
- Handy tips for focusing on positivity throughout your week.
- Tricks for getting your kids to listen to your every word (just kidding,Girl-- I'm still working on getting my kids to listen!) But I will send you fun activity ideas for you and your kids to do together.
- Useful tools that I come across, like meal planning ideas and such!

All the tips you listed are on my favorite back to school tips list, too. It’s time for us to start moving bedtime up – that’s always hard because my kids still want to stay up later playing in the summer.
Happy to be cohosting the #HomeMattersParty with you this week!

Wow, such organized ideas! I love them all! Unfortunately, I became much more organized as my kids got older, but I wish I had done some of these things when they were little! #HomeMattersParty
