How to Speed Clean Your Bathroom

This post has been sponsored by Art of Green. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Speed cleaning is a must for me, especially for cleaning the bathroom. For some reason I am not motivated to clean the bathroom or keep it clean. And that means once a week or so the bathroom is overloaded with toothpaste in the sink, clothes on the floor and stray hair. Please tell me I’m not the only one who needs to clean the bathroom more often! Here are my best tips on how to speed clean your bathroom.

Do you have a bathroom cleaning routine?

I used to clean the bathrooms in the house once a week, but hated the amount of time it took to deep clean. Now, I use this speed cleaning technique in between deep cleaning sessions. The bathrooms are deep cleaned once a month which is way easier to keep up with.

Let me paint a picture of what our bathroom looks like when it’s really dirty:

  • for some reason all the things we use get left on the vanity
  • toothpaste marks in the sink
  • white spots all over the mirror
  • clothes on the floor
  • an overflowing clothes bin
  • hair everywhere

Better yet, here is the picture of the dirty bathroom.

I hate when the bathroom is dirty. I hate seeing the vanity full of trash, beauty products, toothbrushes, etc. It drives me nuts. Here’s the funny thing though, besides my husband’s toothbrush (he rarely puts it back in the cabinet) I’m the one leaving all the mess! It’s like self-sabotage!

Speed Cleaning Bathroom Tips

Speed cleaning works best when you have your cleaning supplies ready. I like to keep a caddy filled with microfiber towels, a scrub brush and cleaning sprays. Don’t forget to grab a small laundry bin or basket to throw the dirty towels in.

  • clear the vanity, shower and bathtub of all products and miscellaneous items
  • spray the vanity, shower, toilet and bathtub with cleaning spray and let sit a few minutes
  • wipe down mirror with a microfiber cloth
  • wipe down the counter and sinks
  • with a clean cloth wipe down the outside of the drawers and the door of the medicine cabinet
  • wipe down the toilet and clean the inside with the toilet scrub brush
  • check the bottom of the toilet clean as needed
  • move on to the shower and tub and wipe it all down with a clean microfiber cloth
  • replace the necessary items: hand towels, soaps, and shampoos
  • quicky sweep and remove trash bag

I am not fan of cleaning the bathroom, but speed cleaning isn’t so bad since I’m done in 15 minutes or less.

What I’m Using to Clean my Bathroom

I became aware of how toxic cleaning products can be a few years ago. That led me to DIY a few cleaning mixtures for my house.  While I love DIY cleaning products I don’t always have the time to make a batch. No cleaning products = I can’t clean. Not good! While searching for naturally based cleaning products I came across Art of Green®  non-toxic products at H-E-B.

I used the Multisurface Cleaner in the bathroom. Yes, even in the toilet bowl, it worked fine. The Art of Green cleaning wipes were handy for cleaning the outside of the toilet and the toilet lid.

  1. I hate cleaning the bathroom – it’s the worst room in the house to clean! But thanks for the tips!

  2. All of your tips are great! I’ve never heard of this product before but am always on the lookout for greener products to use.

  3. I have a rule that nothing can be left on the counter except the soap in the bathroom. It makes it so much easier to keep semi clean. But it is definitely a room I hate!

  4. I do a lot of speed cleaning in my house, especially in my boy’s bathroom. I don’t know what they do when they are brushing their teeth, but there’s always toothpaste everywhere!

  5. I’m the type to always put things away as soon as I’m done with them. I can’t stand a mess so I rarely leave things out. The main reason why I’m this way is because I’m busy and I hate it when I can’t find something.

  7. Haha love this! I’ve got you beat, though – I (or my kids) speed clean our bathrooms in FIVE minutes because we keep a full set of cleaning supplies in each bathroom!

Having a ready supply of cleaning products in the same room always helps for me. I have a shower spray that I use as soon as I get out.

  9. I learned long ago that it’s more efficient to spend a few minutes each day rather than once a week. In 5 minutes every morning I can make my bed, scoop the litter box, clean toilet, sink and counter, vacuum the floor, and even brush the cat–that job alone is less than 30 seconds!
