Fall is my favorite season of the year and I have so many ideas for cozy self-care ideas. I was raised in Michigan and lived there until my early 20’s. Each year I looked forward to the crisp, cool air, the crunchy leaves and the changing colors. Michigan has a beautiful fall season and self-care was as easy as taking a walk around the block.
But, now I live in south Texas. There’s not much of a Fall feeling over here. The mornings and days are hot. So, I have to create opportunities to feel the Fall season and today I’m sharing a Fall themed bucket list full of self-care ideas.
I hope you’ll take time for yourself this season and participate in as much self-care as you can. Follow along on Instagram and share what you’re doing to get some cozy self-care in this season.
Fall Self-Care Ideas Bucket List
Self-care idea 1: Bring Fall into your home
This can mean re-decorating with your go-to Fall decor. Or as simple as buying a Fall scented wax melt for your wax warmer. I am a minimalist (trying to be) when it comes to decor. I like a style that I don’t have to change per season. I don’t like decorating. So we went the wax warmer route and I bought an Apple Cinnamon scent. I love it.
Self-care idea 2: Listen to spooky stories
I love scary stories and I’m also a scaredy cat. I recently found out about the Pleasing Terrors Podcast and binge listened during my work day. I was home alone with the dogs and they scared me so many times that day just by walking into the same room I was in! If you like history, mystery and scary stories this podcast is for you.
Self-care idea 3: Visit a pumpkin patch
One of my favorite Fall activities each year is visiting the local pumpkin patch with the kids.

Happy September 1st. We’re ready for pumpkin spice and everything nice. 🍁
Self-care idea 4: Wear a comfy sweater or a flannel shirt
I love throwing on a sweater, leggings and boots and wearing the ultimate Fall outfit. This always makes me feel good!
Self-care idea 5: Try out a seasonal drink
My favorite local coffee shop has new fall flavors including Granny Smith Apple Latte and of course Pumpkin Spice.
Self-care idea 6: Whip up some soup
My favorite soup is Zuppa Toscana. Here are 10 easy soups to make this year.
Self-care idea 7: Walk in nature as much as possible
I spend a lot of time on my treadmill each week but not as much time walking outside. I read this interesting article in Reader’s Digest about sun protection – is it really needed? Do Vitamin D supplements even help? Personally, after reading the article I stopped the Vitamin D supplement and sought out more time in the sun without sunscreen. I encourage you to do your own research and do what’s right for your body.
Self-care idea 8: Send out snail mail
Grab stationary or greeting cards and spend an afternoon writing to friends and family. Imagine how much they’ll love opening their mailbox and finding a handwritten note from you. Etsy has a great selection of Fall themed paper and postcards.
Self-care idea 9: Learn how to crochet
My Great-Aunt taught me to crochet when I was 10. By the time I had kids I had already forgotten but learned again from Youtube videos. I made scarves one year to give for Christmas and even made a beanie that I still love and wear.
Self-care idea 10: Treats from Trader Joe’s
I love Trader Joe’s for so many reasons – the food, the prices, the flowers. My favorite things about Trader Joe’s is that they make the best seasonal stuff – cookies, Haunted House Cookie kits, apple cider, donuts and pumpkin spice waffles. If you have one near you be sure to stop by and grab some treats.
Self-care idea 11: Block off time to read
I love reading so much. One of my goals this year was to read 50 books. Spoiler alert – I’m not even close. I like the idea of blocking off time in my schedule each week just to read. Lately, I’ve been reading from the Kindle App. I miss physical books but I don’t want to buy them and our library has been closed for so long due to Covid.
I hope you enjoyed the Fall Self-care ideas. I created a free printable with these ideas you can check off and room to add your own self-care activities.
If you have a Fall themed self-care activity and want to share please tell us in the comments. I’d love to hear it.
